She has taught English as a Second/Foreign Language in Australia, Canada, China, Japan and the USA and various TESOL methodology subjects at the University of Wollongong, Georgia State University, Trinity Western University and Baicheng Teachers College. She earned her PhD in Applied Linguistics in 2011 at Georgia State University. Amanda is particularly passionate about second language pronunciation pedagogy and focusing on educating (pre- and in-service) teachers on how to enable learners to communicate clearly in another language.

Amanda’s research interests focus on the dynamic relationships that exist between second language teachers’ knowledge, beliefs and practices, especially in the areas of L2 pronunciation, speaking and listening pedagogy. Classroom research and teacher education, as they relate to L2 oral communication, are primary areas of interest in her research and professional teaching practice.
